Tyler, Texas, is a place to enjoy gorgeous lakes. Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler West are separated by a canal. Lake Palestine is located just to the east of Tyler. The climate in this part of Texas provides ample opportunities to appreciate a beautiful day at a lake.

Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler West

 

Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler West cover a total of 4,500 surface acres, making this a prime center for water recreation. The city of Tyler manages the lakes and maintains multiple recreation areas around the lakes.

The Tyler lakes provide drinking water to the city. As a result, they are well maintained with strict sanitary controls. They are excellent lakes for swimming, boating, and waterskiing.

Known for being full of largemouth bass, anglers appreciate the clearness of the lakes. Spotted bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish are also dominant species in the lakes. Due to the amount of activity the lakes attract, the best fishing is typically in the early morning and late evenings.

Since it’s a popular fishing spot, there are several places around the lakes to purchase bait.

In addition to swimming, boating, and fishing, there are a lot of great places to hike around the lakes. Or you can take a picnic, relax, and watch the waterfowl that call the lakes home.

There are several places around both lakes that offer camping, cabins, and places to park an RV.

The Marina hosts campsites and an RV park. The South Lake Grill at the Marina is a popular restaurant.

The marina has boat slips and is an ideal place to launch your boat. For those who like a peaceful experience on the water paddle boats are available for rent. Moreover, the marina has a large bay that makes for a pleasant paddle-boarding experience.

The Boulders at Lake Tyler is a popular place for families. Many fun afternoons are spent fishing off the side of the renovated barge here. The Boulders provides boat slips and a boat ramp. Concessions, campgrounds, and an RV park are located at this facility.

Lake Palestine

Lake Palestine is another beautiful lake near Tyler. Situated amongst wooded pine trees, it is a peaceful place for fishing, hiking, or camping. Lake Palestine is also known as being a consistent bass fishery. In addition, trophy-sized catfish have been caught in this lake.

Lake Palestine offers the same boating opportunities as the Tyler Lakes, as well as roped-off swimming areas.

There are five public places around Lake Palestine to launch your boat, and more than a dozen marinas.
